IDENTIFYING 22RE FUEL INJECTORS

1986-1987 Turbo ONLY

CAMSHAFT ID

Identifying your camshaft as a OEM that is acceptable as a core. If your cam has either the flat casting mark between #1 and #2 lobes (shown at the left) and/or the OLD Toyota logo between #3 and #4 lobes (shown on the right). If yours has ONLY 1 or both, it is a OEM camshaft and is acceptable as a core. If you have neither, it’s an aftermarket cam that CANNOT be returned for core credit. Also if it has been marked/cast with any other names (ie: CWC), it is not acceptable. BUT!!!! Let us know, we’ll still work with you on it.

1985-1995 22R / 22RE (late) block has the “boss” shown on the vertical arrow (but not drilled). Approx 11 1/8” from oil pan rail to cylinder head deck

1986-1987 22RTE (turbo) block has the boss for the turbo oil return drilled (left arrow) and oil pressure feed to the turbo is drilled (right arrow).

1981-1984 22R (early) block. Approx 11 1/2” from oil pan rail to cylinder head deck surface. Left side has NO boss on the block for turbo drain (left arrow) has old Toyota emblem (right arrow).

Early pistons “pop-up” above the block deck

Late pistons are flush with the deck, slight dish.

Turbo pistons are dished deeper for lower compression
