When you are ready to place an order and get on the list for a rebuilt engine, here is how we work it...... 

We'll get all of your billing info and email address and start an invoice for you. We'd like to do a 1/2 deposit on the invoice to get the ball rolling and get you into the queue. 

Now the waiting part.

Then, a couple of weeks before your engine will be ready to ship, we'll call you and let you know to start getting ready for it. At that time we can get the freight arranged and add any other parts you may need to ship along with your engine. We'll take care of the balance on your invoice at that time. 


Once the engine is packed up and ready to go the trucking company will pick it up and assign it a tracking number (also called a PRO # in the trucking world) and we'll email it to you along with the trucking companies website to track it on.

Once the installation is complete and you have the engine drained of all fluids and strapped back on the pallet, you'll call and let us know. At that time I can email you a return bill of lading and we can make arrangements get the engine picked up at the commercial address it was shipped to or you can drop it off at the terminal you picked it up from. 

Once the engine gets back to us, we'll tear it down and inspect it to make sure it is all rebuildable. Once everything is checked out, we refund your core deposit MINUS the freight charges it took to get back to us. We refund via check. 

The fine print….

if for any reason you need to cancel your order, we can refund your deposit minus a 20% processing fee. Your deposit (minus the 20% fee) will be refunded via check within 90 days of your cancellation.

"What is a "core deposit" and why do I get charged for it?"

OK, ready? 

CORE means the used parts that we start with to remachine, regrind and use to build an engine. 

If you walked into our shop with your engine (or shipped it to us) and asked us to rebuild it, we would NOT have to charge you a core deposit since I would be using your CORE engine to machine and build. 

STAGE 1 engine = $2495.00


Here is where the core deposit comes into the mix.....

Since bringing in your engine for build (or shipping it to us) when placing an order isn't an option for most of you, we can build and engine for you from our CORE inventory.  

That is when I charge you a CORE DEPOSIT. I need your old engine (CORE) back to replace the CORE I built to ship to you. 

STAGE 1 engine = $2495.00

CORE DEPOSIT = $400.00

Total = $2895.00

"how do I get the core engine back to you and get my deposit back?"

Once you get the new engine installed, just put your core engine back on the same pallet and strap it down with some old ratchet straps. Call us here and we can get the arrangements made to get it picked up. I'll email you the bill of lading to have along with the engine when they pick it up (or if you are dropping it off at the terminal you picked it up from. 

Once it gets back to us, we'll get it torn down and inspected (see the acceptable core requirements over on the right). Once we determine all is rebuildable, we'll issue a core refund check, minus the freight charges it took to get it back to us (usually the same cost as the shipment out to you).

STANDARD CORE DEPOSIT IS $400.00 for a long block engine (we expect the same parts returned as what we send you), including (but not limited to):

*rebuildable/remachinable block (we will give only partial credit for blocks that have already been bored to .040” (1MM) oversize 

*machinable crankshaft (anything machined past .010" undersized is not usable) and connecting rods (full credit will not be given for “spun” rod bearings that have damaged crankshaft or connecting rods)

*oil pan and oil pick up tube (you cannot substitute a 4 wheel drive oil pan pick up tube for a 2 wheel drive oil pan and pick up tube).

*Valve cover (must be for the year specific you are ordering)

*Machinable OE camshaft (sorry, we cannot give you credit for a flattened cam or a Chinese replacement cam. Check here to determine if your camshaft is usable as a core)

*Rocker arms that have deep scratches or wear marks at the cam pad side cannot be re-machined, aftermarket replacements cannot be accepted. 


Depending on your distance/shipping location, it may not be cost effective for you to ship your core engine back to us. We are always willing to “buy” certain parts of your core engine (cams, rockers, valve cover, oil pan, connecting rods, etc). 

We are willing to work with you on core parts, nothing is written in stone, call and we can talk about it.

Rebuilt engine warranty:

Our rebuilt engines are warranted for 12 months (1 Year), unlimited mileage. Our warranty covers parts only, we do not cover labor or shipping under ANY circumstances. Warranty is not applicable to any engine used for racing or competition purposes. It’s your responsibility to have the timing, fuel system (carb’d or injected) to be working properly. We want your engine to work right when you install it. Don’t wait to call us after a problem occurs, call us when you THINK they may be an issue. 

You have purchased the best engine available, if you or your installer need any advice, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU WITH THE QUESTIONS!


Here is the bottom line:

Our engines are built to better than factory specifications, they are built better than any other you can buy, we build them with parts that are TESTED and PROVEN not to fail. We’ve built the best, it’s up to YOU to do the installation and tuning of the engine properly (and the external parts you install onto it to match). WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO HAVE A PROBLEM. We also know that there are many things beyond our control that may cause issues. We want to stay friends and make you happy about the engine you installed. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS (ANY!), CALL US. We’d rather help you with advice about your installation before there is an issue. 


The warranty does not cover these issues (but not limited to):

Overheating for any reason

Failure due to lean or rich fuel conditions (carburetion issues, fuel injection system issues, exhaust or catalytic convertor problems)

Any damage caused by improper timing or tuning (advanced or retarded, throttle position sensor misadjusted, modified air flow meter)

Lack of lubrication (for any reason)

Improper break in procedures


We control the quality of the parts, our machining and assembly process for our rebuilt long block assembly. We do not have any control of the used external parts that you install onto the rebuilt engine we ship to you. We pride ourselves on building the BEST 22RE/22R engine you can buy and we expect you (or your shop) to use common sense when installing your rebuilt long block. We expect the issue that caused your old engine to fail in the first place to be resolved before installing the rebuilt long block. We REALLY recommend checking out our install recommendations and tips page for some of the more common items that may cause difficulties after the rebuilt engine is installed.
