Since yours is closing in on 30 years with the brutal underhood temps, the seal will eventually give up the ghost. Idle and drivability issues will rear their heads if yours isn’t sealing properly or cracked. You never want un-metered air getting into the system cause lean run or idle issues.

You can reuse the metal spacers from your orginal seal (they fit into the 4 holes around the afm studs) or order a set if yours are missing altogether. Or if you lost one when you pulled it off last time (I won’t tell anyone). Either way, they need to be there.
