Even though everyone calls it something different, it’s still the same part. It’s the thingy at the rear of the intake plenum.

It keeps the junk in your intake manifold (oil vapor from the pcv system and EGR gasses that are in the intake/plenum) from plugging up your vacuum hoses. It also keeps the flame/explosion from a backfire from destroying the goodies connected to the ports. Hey, at least that is what toyota tells us it’s for.

I’m sure you have at least one broken nipple on it causing you an issue or else you wouldn’t be reading this splendid explanation. The WD-40 straw that you cut and tried to glue inside of the broken nipple didn’t work, did it? Time to pony up and get a new one.
