Alright, here is the deal. NEVER use anything but a FACTORY OE thermostat for your truck. Your ECU is looking looking for a certain temperature of your engine coolant to make your truck run at its peak (called "closed loop"). An engine running an aftermarket thermostat that let's the engine run too cool (or too hot) can cause the ECU to run in "open loop" mode. Aftermarket thermostats can cause poor performance, poor fuel economy and possible overheating/overcooling. Toyota designed this thermostat to keep your truck running at the proper operating temperature. This isn't the part you want to try and save a nickel on. Buy it right. 

Oh yeah, and the OE thermostat recommendation goes for ANY make/model of vehicle.
